Fresher Publishing is a small publishing press, established at Bournemouth University to nurture the publishing talent of the future and support writers from across Dorset and beyond. The team is made up of staff, students and our wonderfully supportive executive board which includes publishing consultant Ed Peppitt, Picador Editor Ansa Khan Khattak and literary agent Madeleine Milburn
We do not currently publish unsolicited works, however, our annual Writing Prize gives writers the chance to showcase their work in front of some of the best in the publishing industry, win some great prizes and maybe be published in our associated anthologies. On the same page, you will see details of our Writing Wizardry Competition. This is open to children of eleven years and under, who can submit their short stories online and be in with a chance of winning their own height in books – as well as being published in the The Fresher Writing Prize collection.
As part of our mission to encourage young creative writers (as well as old!), we also offer FREE creative writing workshops to primary schools. Our friendly team of Writing Witches likes nothing more than to share their secrets for magical tales with young children, filling them with the confidence and enthusiasm to write their own stories..
