Fresher launches in style

Joan-reads-at-launch-webFresher Publishing got off to a great start on April 8th with a lively launch party at Kino in Bournemouth. The room was packed to capacity, with the crowd spilling into the stair ways to hear readings from the new Fresh anthology and to see Charlotte Clifton collect her award for Fresher’s Most Promising Writer from screenwriter and Fresher Editorial Director for Scripts, John Foster.

Among the guests were Bournemouth’s poet laureate, James Manlow; Medi Bernard from Bournemouth libraries; Lisa Richardson, Head of Illustration at Arts University Bournemouth and of course all of our lovely writers, including our new novelist Joan Ellis (pictured left) who entertained everyone with an extract from her new book, due to be published in July. The evening was rounded off by a great set from local band Embargo. Editorial Director Emma Scattergood said:

“It was a fabulous night. There is such a feeling of enthusiasm and support for Fresher Publishing coming from all quarters and I am really looking forward to taking it to its next stage now and launching the Fresher Prize for New Writing.”
