Author Maz Evans to judge new prize for Dorset’s young writing wizards

This year’s Writing Wizardry competition has a special, new prize which will be awarded to the best story entered by a Dorset-based writer.

All children from Dorset who enter the Writing Wizardry Competition this year will immediately be considered for the special prize by judges, with the final decision being made by the award-winning children’s author Maz Evans, who also lives in Dorset. The lucky winner will receive a voucher for £150 worth of books.

Editorial Director of Fresher Publishing, Emma Scattergood, said: “The Writing Wizardry competition has grown hugely in reputation over the past few years, and last year saw children shortlisted from as far afield as Tokyo and Berlin. We are very aware however of the community we are based in – and have received wonderful support from the local schools and families over the years – so this special prize is a way of recognising the efforts that all of the local children, parents and school teachers have made.”
